Someone was holding onto OpenTravel, and while Twitter sat on my request for si weeks, once they got moving, the username was awarded to us very quickly. It is a bit risky to assume appropriate ownership of a Twitter username, but if Twitter keeps moving quickly, it should be less of an issue.<br /><br />We suffered a bit, like UA did, as the username just sat there, unused for months; very frustrating for us.
